AHA Rally at Squatters

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Last Friday, One Little Mexican and his wife attended the American Homebrewers Association rally held at Squatters brewery in Salt Lake City, Utah.

We were hosted by Squatters Head Brewer Jenny Talley.  She gave us a lot of good information, and also gave us a guided tour of the entire brewing facility.  It was really cool to see how a real micro brewery does their thing.  The equiptment they use and the process is so cool.  OLM can only dream of one day doing it like that.

We also got free appetizers and discounted pints, so of course we had to try a few.  They have a Vienna Lager and a Dunkel that are incredible.

Also, BTW – Jenny mentioned that Utah was finally going to make home brewing legal in the state this year.  That means we can have legitimate brewing clubs, and amateur competitions sponsored by real companies, and all that.  It should be huge for those of us that would like to sample other brews and see how our own stand up to the competition.

I encourage all the homebrewers out there to attend a rally if one is held in your area.  I am a member of the AHA, and I highly recomend it to any who are serious about becoming better brewers.

Cheers!

The Living Traditions Festival was great yet again this year. The highlight for me was one of the featured artists, Son De Madera. They are from Veracruz, Mexico. You can view their myspace page here:

The Site is up! Live Green Festival, etc.

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

The site is up (mostly) after a few hours of work today. There are still a few updates and additions needed that I will try to get to by the weekend.

Anybody in the SLC area who is looking for something to do Saturday, May 10th, join us here:

Squatters will be doing the beer garden… and they have the best local brews! It’s also a great way to spend the day with good music, and a large number of “green” vendors on site.

Hope to see you there!
