Subject: Utah Legalization One Step Closer
Hi All,
I am very please to announce that the bill to legalize homebrewing in Utah was passed by the Business and Labor Interim Committee Meeting with only one dissenting vote yesterday. This clears the way for the bill to go to a vote before the full House in January, where it was passed last year.
By getting the bill on the docket before the start of the legislative session, we stand a much better chance of getting the bill passed by both the House and Senate in 2009. In 2008, the bill died after passing the House because the legislative session ended before the bill had a chance to be voted on in the Senate.
The effort to legalize homebrewing in Alabama continues. Earlier this Fall, the Alabama homebrewers held a fundraiser that generated over $7,000 that they can put towards the cause of legalizing homebrewing in that state. They are planning a homebrew tasting for legislators to be held during the legislative session and are currently working on identifying potential sponsors for a homebrew legalization bill.
Cheers!
